Reel in the Big One: Biloxi's Best Inshore Trip

Ready to wet a line and bag some of Biloxi's finest inshore catches? Hop aboard with Lil' Time Off for a half-day trip that'll have you hooked from the start. We're talking about four solid hours of non-stop action, targeting the local favorites like redfish, speckled trout, and those tasty flounder. Whether you're a seasoned angler or just getting your feet wet, Captain Nick knows exactly where the fish are biting and how to put you on 'em.

What to Expect on the Water

Rise and shine, anglers! We'll meet you at the dock bright and early at 6 AM, ready to chase the morning bite. Our 24-foot center console is perfect for navigating Biloxi's inshore waters, giving us access to all the honey holes where the big ones lurk. With room for up to 6 people, it's ideal for a family outing or a day out with your fishing buddies. Don't worry about gear – we've got you covered with top-notch rods, reels, and bait. Just bring your game face and maybe a snack or two for when the action gets hot.

Fishing Techniques & Hotspots

We'll be using a mix of live bait and artificial lures, depending on what's working best that day. Expect to do some light tackle casting around structures like oyster beds, grass flats, and channel edges. Captain Nick's got a few tricks up his sleeve, like sight fishing for tailing reds in the shallows or drifting for specs over deep holes. We might even do some bottom fishing for those delicious sheepshead – they're like underwater convicts, but boy do they taste good!

What Anglers Are Saying

"We had an awesome time!! Captain Nick put us on the fish!!" - Stephine Morris

"The family went down last summer and had one of the best experiences of our life. The crew kept our poles bending from the time we hit the water until we came in. I cannot give these guys enough stars! Thanks for a great time!" - Brian

"Great charter, not a huge boat, so personable experience. Capt Nick is great!" - Ryan N Lexi Grove

Species You'll Want to Hook

Redfish: These copper-colored bruisers are the crown jewels of Biloxi's inshore scene. Known for their powerful runs and distinctive spot near the tail, redfish can range from "rat reds" of a few pounds to trophy "bull reds" over 40 inches long. They love to hang around structure and will crush a well-presented bait. The fall is prime time for reds, but we catch 'em year-round.

Speckled Trout: Don't let the name fool you – these guys are anything but specks! Speckled trout are aggressive feeders and one of the tastiest fish in the Gulf. They school up in cooler months, making for some fast and furious action when you find 'em. Look for them around grass beds and drop-offs, especially during tide changes.

Sheepshead: With their distinctive black and white stripes, sheepshead are often called "convict fish." They're notorious bait stealers, thanks to their human-like teeth, but that just makes hooking one even more satisfying. These structure-loving fish are a blast to catch and make for some mighty fine eating. Winter and early spring are prime sheepshead seasons.

Southern Flounder: These flatfish are masters of camouflage, blending in perfectly with the sandy bottom. But don't be fooled – they're aggressive predators with a mouthful of sharp teeth. Flounder fishing requires finesse and patience, but when you hook into a big doormat, it's all worth it. Fall is the best time to target flounder as they move towards the passes to spawn.

Why Anglers Keep Coming Back

It's not just about the fish – though believe me, there are plenty of those. What sets Lil' Time Off apart is the personalized experience you get with Captain Nick. He's not just another guide; he's a local who's been fishing these waters his whole life. You'll feel like you're out with a buddy who happens to know every nook and cranny where the fish are hiding. And let's be honest, there's nothing quite like the thrill of feeling that first tug on your line, knowing you're about to battle it out with a Biloxi bruiser.

The Lil' Time Off Difference

We're not about fancy frills or big promises. What we offer is straight-up, honest-to-goodness fishing. Our 24-foot boat is the perfect size for these waters – big enough to handle a chop, small enough to get into those skinny water honey holes where the big ones hide. And with a max of 6 guests, you're guaranteed plenty of personalized attention and fishing time. No cattle boats here!

Gearing Up for Success

Leave the tackle box at home – we've got you covered with top-of-the-line gear that's perfect for inshore fishing. We use a mix of light and medium action rods paired with quality reels, spooled with braided line for maximum sensitivity. For bait, we'll have a mix of live shrimp, croakers, and artificials like soft plastics and topwater lures. Don't forget to bring a camera – you'll want proof when you land that gator trout or bull red!

Local Knowledge, Big Results

Biloxi's waters can be tricky, with shifting sandbars and hidden oyster reefs. But that's where Captain Nick's local knowledge comes in handy. He knows how to read the water, spot the signs of feeding fish, and adjust tactics based on conditions. Whether we're sight-casting to tailing reds in the shallows or working a deep hole for monster trout, you're in for a master class in inshore fishing techniques.

More Than Just Fishing

While we're out there chasing fish, keep your eyes peeled for other Gulf Coast wildlife. Dolphins often play in our wake, pelicans dive-bomb for bait fish, and you might even spot an osprey snagging its own catch. It's not uncommon to see stingrays gliding by or even a sea turtle popping up for air. It's a full-on nature experience, with the added bonus of potentially catching dinner!

Time to Book Your Spot

Look, the fish are out there waiting, and Captain Nick's calendar fills up fast. At $700 for up to 6 people, it's a steal for a private, guided inshore adventure. All you need to do is put down a small, non-refundable deposit to lock in your date. So what are you waiting for? Check our availability, pick your day, and get ready for some of the best inshore fishing Biloxi has to offer. Trust me, once you feel that first redfish on the line, you'll be hooked for life. Let's make it happen – book your trip with Lil' Time Off today!

Redfish

Redfish are a staple in our waters, known for that distinctive black spot near their tail. They usually run 28-33 inches, but can grow up to 45 inches and 50 pounds. You'll find them in shallow flats and estuaries, often in water just 1-4 feet deep. They love hanging around oyster reefs, seagrass, and mud bottoms. Fall is fantastic for redfish, but you can catch them year-round. Anglers go crazy for the fight these fish put up, plus they're delicious on the plate. To hook one, try working topwater lures in shallow areas - the strikes can be explosive. My go-to trick is using a weedless jig with a shrimp imitation. Reds will eat just about anything when they're hungry, so experiment with different lures and see what works.

Redfish

Sheepshead

Sheepshead are odd-looking fish with human-like teeth and striped bodies, earning them the nickname "convict fish." They typically weigh 1-8 pounds but can reach 20 pounds. You'll find them around structures like docks, bridges, and reefs, where they feed on barnacles and crabs. Spring is prime time for sheepshead fishing. Anglers love targeting them for their tasty white meat and the challenge they present - these guys are notorious bait stealers. To outsmart them, use light tackle and set the hook fast when you feel a nibble. I like to scrape some barnacles off the pilings to attract them, but check local regulations first. Sheepshead put up a good fight and make for excellent eating, so they're always a fun catch on our trips.

Sheepshead

Southern Flounder

Southern flounder are masters of camouflage, blending in with sandy or muddy bottoms. They're typically 15-18 inches long but can grow up to 33 inches. Look for them in shallow coastal waters, bays, and estuaries. Winter is when the adults move offshore, so fall's your best bet for big ones. Anglers love flounder for their unique appearance and tasty, white meat. They're ambush predators, so patience is key when fishing for them. I recommend drift fishing or still fishing with live bait like bull minnows or mullet. Use a light-to-medium line with a slip lead rig. Here's a local tip: when you feel a bite, wait a few seconds before setting the hook. Flounder often grab the bait and hold it before fully committing, so give them time to take it all in.
